About Pegasus

We are the most friendly chess club in Amstelveen and its surroundings. Players of every strength are welcome. We always play with pleasure and respect. The social atmosphere within the club is strong and good. We welcome everyone to join.

Internal Competition

Internal competition of Pegasus, played according to the "Keizer-system". the Keizer-system allows for a classification of players whose opponents have more or less equal strength. Playing time per game is 1:30 hours + 15s increment.

External Competition

External competition of the SGA, in which 2 teams of 8 chess players from Pegasus enter the exciting competition against other chess clubs from the Amsterdam region, each in their own playing class. Playing time per game is 1:30 hours + 15s increment.

PegaCup

The PegaCup is an internal cup competition. Only the winners of a match advance to the next round. At the end of the season, the final is played. Playing time per game is 1:30 hours without increment. In case of a draw, a blitz game decides who will go to the next round.

Speed Chess

Speed Chess are games of 5:00 min per person. A Pegasus Speed Chess Tournament is held every year. Speed Chess is played all year round on club evenings, before the internal competition round starts, or at the end of the evening, just for fun.

Online Chess

At Chess.com, Pegasus has created an online chess environment that allows club members to find each other for playing online games. Here we regularly organize online chess tournaments to have fun with each other.

Summer Chess

Summer Chess is a non-committal, social chess evening, to chess and catch up with each other. Every Tuesday evening, the pace of play is determined on the spot. This keeps us connected to each other and to the chess board.

Events

Pegasus is known for organising various chess and social events. The most famous event is Schakers van Formaat, where large chess boards were used to simultaneously play chess against famous Dutch Grand Masters.

Friendly Chess

Friendliness is key at Pegasus. Spontaneously, we play at a regular base chess with each other, in a community center or cafe, enjoying a drink and/or a bite. Everyone can join, and having fun with each other is leading.

Tournaments

Chess tournaments are held regularly throughout the country. Sometimes, some members meet to come together to play in these tournaments. Some tournaments are even abroad.

Chess Club Pegasus Amstelveen is the most friendly chess club in the region of Amsterdam. Interested people are always welcome, and can get acquainted on our club night, or during one of our friendly chess activities. Our regular club night is Tuesday night. During the summer months we organize friendly chess activities for the interested members. It is possible to become a member of our chess club throughout the year.
